Old Designs
Every site needs sprucing up every once in a while, even Tune-Habbo has gone under the knife a couple of times since it opened back in 2004. Habbo Hotel is unlike most other sites, they can't just update the homepage layout or information on it, as they also have to develop new features for the client, including new help systems and console adaptations.
Habbo actually started off as quite a dull, grey layout and a very simple game idea. In the years Habbo has been up and running, supported by its loyal members it has been able to progress to where it is today. There is a brief overview of what happened in each progression of Habbo, starting from number 6 as anything before these were only minor updates and sufficient information cannot be found, you can find all of this in our Habbo Release Guides! We also have information on the past homepage layouts, found below.
Not only the client has changed over the years, the homepage has been changed a few times too! There have been 5 major changes, some of these had changes within them as parts of new releases but the concept was still the same. We have only included one example of each layout as it was unnecessary to do so. However, the content of each layout and how it was used by each specific hotel may have varied. This guide includes layouts solely for English speaking hotels, as hotels such as Habbo China had their own unique layout, as not seen by the English speaking world. Clicking the image below each section of information will take you to a larger image!

Design 1 - February 2001
The original Habbo layout was used from the opening of the hotel in 2001 for just over 2 years, whilst the community was still growing. The layout was quite plain but covered what needed to be covered. It displayed the amount of people online, the amount of people in particular guest rooms and small pieces of information about the hotel.
Design 2- June 2003
February 2003 and Habbo felt that the hotel needed sprucing up, so they did it! This then presented us with the ever famous orange and blue layout. Though it was still rather simple it had so much more information on than the previous layout. You could find out about the latest news in 'Habbo Today', see basic information on the hotel, such as who can use it and what software you need, along with being able to view the latest events! This layout often proved to be very simple, effective and easy to navigate around.
Design 3 - May 2006
After just over 3 years it was time for another change, this brought us the third design of the Habbo Homepage. This design was much more interactive (with emphasis being put upon the use of images and could fit so much more information onto it. However, initially many Habbos became lost due to the abrupt change to a more complex navigation system. Some of the things Habbo used this space for were showing the latest news stories, events and you can even access your account's information, right from the homepage!
Design 4 - December 2007
The latest, current homepage has now been in action since November 2007 and has had a number of changes made to it, just a few modules added, a few removed and a few changed around a little bit. This particular design had moved away from the traditional 'blue and orange' colours which has symbolised Habbo for quite a few years. This new design also meant that you now had to log in before being able to access the site, rather than logging in on the client. This new, sleek design allowed you to do so much, with the click of a few buttons! Some of these things include viewing your Habbos information, including when you were last online, any outstanding messages or friend requests and any new guestbook posts. Another feature of this homepage is seeing the latest news stories, your online friends and groups you are a member of!
Design 5 - 2010
Design five wasn't much of a change but brought a brand new login page with more ways to login to Habbo and also modules removed and replaced with new ones on the /me page. The Login page decided to go for a whole new design, with mainly a green and black theme. It also features an image of the new hotel view and a few more options to login with services such as Facebook, Google and others. The top twenty tags which most Habbos liked were also kept on the login page.
The /me page didn't change much but a few modules were replaced with more interesting and new ones. A few modules which were recently added are 'Hot Campaigns' which shows the latest two campaigns in the Hotel and 'Staff Picks' which showed the latest groups and rooms recommended by staff.
Past Sulake Designs
Aswell as the past Habbo designs, we have also decided to show you the past designs of the website that runs Habbo itself, Sulake.com to prevent you being scammed by any fake Sulake websites or to just look back to how Sulake started out.
Sulake first started out with a dull, and not too nice red design with a few images of the old Habbo and a few content boxes providing basic information such as what Habbo and Sulake is, contact information and information about Fuse LIGHT, a program created by Sulake itself for Java developers.
Since it's first design, Sulake has progressed amazingly over the years and has a unique, upto date design which is perfect for it's current target market of teenagers and young adults.
Please be aware that these dates are not exact dates of when the design was released, these are dates based on our research.
Design One - Feb 2001
The first version of Sulake.com started out with a dull, and not too nice looking red design with a few basic images of Habbo and a few content boxes providing information such as what Habbo and Sulake is, contact information and information about Fuse LIGHT a program created by Sulake itself for Java developers.
Design Two- March 2003
In design two, Sulake sticked with the dark red but also added a dark blue to the new design. In the new design they had also began to show information about their newly created product which has now ended named Coke Studios. They also had basic information such as how to contact Sulake and open positions. And they also decided to add the latest information about Habbo Hotel and Sulake.
Design Three - January 2005
Design three brought no major changes. They stuck with the red header with the old Sulake logo and the blue content area. In this design they decided to add a navigation with links to other pages such as Company and Contact. They also scrapped the information and images for Coke Studios and deleted and re-added a few Habbo Hotel images. Another feature they kept was the press room which featured the latest news about Habbo Hotel and Sulake and the image of Frank and another Habbo with a speech bubble with the message of "Everyone can play".
Design Four - July 2007
In design four, the Sulake website had a complete makeover bringing it upto date with other websites on the internet. In this design they changed the main colour to a light sky blue colour. They also started modernising it to start running in flash, with the top half of the website where the navigation and information about Sulake all ran in flash. In the top area there is a rotator which brings all sorts of white animals with a blue outline in the top area. When you hovered over the navigation a rounded rectangle would form around the navigation link and when clicked would go to the page and bring several links under the main navigation link.
In the bottom area, the content area with a grey outline has large blue header text with black text and light blue hyperlink text. On the homepage the content contains some links to the Sulake blog, careers and latest news about Sulake and Habbo.
This version is the latest, and best version yet and is also a great attraction for the Sulake target market which are teenagers and young adults and very unique to other websites.
