The US official in charge of the Gulf of Mexico oil clean-up has allowed BP to keep the cap on its damaged well for another 24 hours.
BP has done their best to keep an eye on the sea floor for any signs of a new leak.
After BP installed the new cap, they have been doing regular pressure tests to see if the well can be kept shut.
In a letter sent to BP, Thad Allen expressed his concerns about a ''detected seep'' and other ''undetermined anomalies'' on the sea floor close to the well.
He has also asked BP to submit plans to reopen the well, just in case oil is still leaking from it. This in theory would allow the crude oil to be piped to the waters surface safely.
Although, if the cap is reopened, the thousands upon thousands of tons of oil
could resume to leak.
